America's Best Local Charities (ABLC) strives to help educate contributors about the work of these worthy causes of our member charities: services to the homeless, families enrichment, education, animal rescue and much more.
ABLC's mission is to organize and prepare our member charities for effective participation in at-work employee charitable fund drives, to screen and certify these charities to ensure they meet the eligibility criteria to participate in these fund drives, and to provide for the secure, accurate, and timely transmission of contributions from the fund drives to the recipient charities. And to do all the above as cost-effectively as possible consistent with delivering quality service.
There are many benefits to giving to ABLC:
All ABLC agencies are screened annually to ensure that they meet the highest standards of substantive program services, management and fiscal responsibility.
ABLC applications for new members are accepted each year from October through January. For more information, please call us at (415) 925-2663 or email info@bestlocalcharities.org.
Currently, ABLC has a chapter in certain regions of many of our states. Click here to see the complete list.
To verify whether ABLC has a chapter in your area contact Bill Broughan at info@bestlocalcharities.org. Mention the county and state in which your organization is located in your email.
ABLC is governed by a board of directors that includes representatives from member charities, donor groups, and other constituencies. All board members are volunteers serving without compensation. The board of directors oversees the administration of services to ABLC member agencies and ensures that high eligibility standards are maintained. It does NOT determine how much money each agency will receive - that decision is left to the contributor. Gifts made directly to ABLC are shared among all its member agencies in the same proportion as each has received donor-designated gifts.
