Brain Injury, Stroke and Concussion Support - you are not alone. Offering continued rehabilitation, education, support and community. Helping people not only survive, but thrive.
Real Life Story
Every time you give to Schurig Center, you literally change lives and help people feel less alone in the world. You help someone like Jamie, who suffered a traumatic brain injury while skiing.
After the injury, Jamie was left with cognitive disabilities that made it difficult to return to work. He also lost insurance for long-term rehabilitation that could improve his abilities. He was left with financial challenges and without treatment he needed to recover. It was a horrible situation that none of us could ever plan for.
“I had no hope for the future before coming to Schurig Center. I was homeless, unemployed, and in a deep depression.”
Brain injury does not discriminate. Just like it happened to Jamie, it can happen to anyone, at any time – from a stroke, accident, fall, and other causes.
When it happens, having a place like Schurig Center is critical to transition back to a fulfilling life.
People are increasingly being discharged home too early after initial rehabilitation even though they are capable of continued improvement. But, our amazing brain has the ability to heal with ongoing treatment.
YOUR GIFT POWERS THE ONLY NONPROFIT IN OUR AREA that picks up where the healthcare system leaves off to provide support services for survivors – for as long as they need it.
“Schurig Center has changed my life. Now I have a job and a place to live. I have hope. Their team has helped me improve and get better.”
Thanks to YOU, Jamie is able to access services that are helping him rebuild his life, like referral to resources for housing and work, computer-based cognitive therapy, occupational therapy, and a weekly support group.
